Manchester United will play AC Milan at Principality Stadium on 3 August in the first ever International Champions Cup (ICC) game to take place in Wales.

Information

The match will be Manchester United’s only pre-season fixture in Europe prior to the 2019/20 Premier League season and will be their third and final game in the ICC for 2019. The ICC kicks off on 16 July and features 12 world-class clubs in 18 matches across the US, Europe and Asia. Each team will play 3 games and the team with the most points wins the trophy. The ICC sets the tone for what’s ahead every season. It’s the first chance for football fans to see their heroes back on the pitch and the first chance for clubs to debut new players, new managers, new tactics, and new kits. ROAD CLOSURES There will be a full city centre road closure from 14:00 – 20:30 However from early in the day Scott Rd & Park St will be closed as a result of the need to prepare Gate 5 and to protect queuing fans – access to off street premises prior to the full closure will be maintained For a full road closure the following roads are closed

  • Kingsway from its junction with North Rd to its junction with Duke St.
  • Cowbridge Road East from its junction with Cathedral Rd to its junction with Westgate St.
  • Tudor St from its junction with Clare Rd to its junction with Wood St (access for residents & traders will be permitted via Fitzhammon Embankment)
  • Plantagenet St & Beauchamp St from their junctions with Despenser Place to their junctions with Tudor St (access for residents & traders will be permitted)
  • Saunders Road from its junction with St Mary Street
  • Customhouse Street throughout its length (access to private car parks will be permitted)
  • Penarth Road from its junction with Saunders Road to the entrance leading into the rear of the Central Train Station
  • The following roads will be closed in their entirety: – Duke St, Castle St, High St, St.Mary St, Caroline St, Wood St, Central Sq, Westgate St, Quay St, Guildhall Pl, Golate, Park St, Havelock St & Scott Rd.

Additions:

  • Civic Centre: Access to part of the Civic Centre will be controlled throughout the day, with access allowed only for Man Utd supporters parking, loading and access to private car parks. Roads affected include: King Edward VII Avenue, Museum Avenue, City Hall Road, College Road & Gorsedd Gardens Road

Manchester United travelling supporters: Cars & coaches will be directed to leave the M4 at J32, travel south along the A470 to the Civic centre (King Edward VII Ave, Museum Ave & Gorsedd Gardens) (Approx. 0.5miles walk to Millennium Stadium, Gate 2)

  • Civic Centre Event Day Parking (Cars)

Getting There: Exit Junction 32 of M4, head South on A470 towards City Centre and follow signage to Civic Centre Cost: £12 Pre-Book Online or £15 payable on the day at the car park (cash only) Parking time: Car Park opens 8am and closes 12am (Midnight) Check out pre-booking website: (ZEELO – to follow shortly)

  • Civic Centre Event Day Parking  (Coaches & Mini Buses)

Getting There: Exit Junction 32 of M4, head South on A470 towards City Centre and follow signage to Civic Centre Cost: £25 payable on the day at the car park (cash only), or pre-book in advance Parking time: Car Park opens 8am and closes 12am (Midnight) PARK & RIDE for all travelling supporters, CARS – P & R site accessed from J33 of the M4

  • Cardiff City Stadium (Leckwith) P&R

Getting There: Access from Junction 33 of the M4, then follow signage to site Drop Off Point: Fitzhammon Embankment, 2mins walk from stadium Distance from City Centre: 1.5miles (10-15mins)               Cost: £8 Pre Book Online or £10 payable on the day at the car park (cash only) All P&R customers are advised to follow the signage to the site at the time of their arrival The car park will have a staff presence from 8:30am, will open at 9:00am, with the first bus at 9:30am. The last bus will leave the pick-up point at 9.30pm, with the car park closing at 10:00pm. On the day Event Parking, for all travelling supporters: Sophia Gardens (Cars) (Approx. 0.5miles walk to Principality Stadium, Gate 2)

  • Sophia Gardens Event Day Parking

Getting There: Exit Junction 32 of M4 Cost: £15 payable on the day at the car park (cash only) Parking time: Car Park opens 8am and closes 12am (Midnight) Please Note: Sophia Gardens car park will be staffed until 10.30pm, all vehicles are left on site at the owner’s risk, The City of Cardiff Council will not be held responsible for any theft or damage to motor vehicles or personal possessions. Any vehicles left in the car park after the closing time will be fined.
