This week saw the opening of Principality Stadium’s brand-new hospitality experience, the Riverside Terrace. The 410 sqm space is a notable move away from the traditional, match-day hospitality offer with its industrial interior, live music and street food menu, it’s more akin to the trendy bars in Cardiff than the established rugby hospitality surroundings.

The new, versatile space sits on the city’s riverbank with access via the river walk. Clientele will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious street food from the best local street food vendors in Cardiff with a different vendor selected to cater each match along with brilliant live music to create the ultimate match-day atmosphere.

WRU Spokesperson says, “We looked at the market, and we felt there was a gap, and an opportunity to do something different. Not every supporter wants the traditional, formal 5-course sit down meal. The street food scene in Cardiff is huge, and we have some very talented chefs in Wales. Our Head Chef Ryan Jones has worked alongside each vendor to develop an exclusive menu for each match. This informal way of dining, coupled with a new, vibrant space gave us the opportunity to present an entry level hospitality package for those looking for an alternative to the traditional Welsh rugby experience. Supporters can still expect the same unrivalled level of service, and a Category A padded seat not available on public sale from which to watch the game is included within all long-term licenses or match-by-match package.”

Guests at the launch were treated to entertainment from Welsh musician Ragsy, and a sumptuous array of canapes from the new menu which included delicious burnt ends beef bao buns and zingy, chilli chicken bites. Four of Cardiff’s most exciting street food kitchens; Tokyo Nights, Dirty Gnocchi, Mr Croquewich and Kerelan Karavan have been selected by Principality Stadium Head Chef Ryan Jones to cater the Autumn Nations Series with an exclusive two-course menu for each match.

The Riverside Terrace also got the seal of approval from Wales’ Head Coach Wayne Pivac who sat down for an exclusive live Q&A and gave guests a teasing insight into the upcoming series. “It’s a fantastic space, great atmosphere. Where we sit on a match day is a little different, but this is very, very nice, and I’m sure that we fill it up every match day.”
