As the longest running third party event at Principality Stadium, the motorsport has become synonymous with Cardiff, and fans from across the world are invited to join the celebrations as Speedway and Principality Stadium mark 20 years of thrilling events.

Experience the highs, extraordinary skills, and nail-biting moments between 16 riders as they go head-to-head over 23 races with just a single gear and no brakes, for the chance to win one of the most prestigious events in world speedway and move one step closer to World Championship glory.

Mark Williams Principality Stadium Manager said, “Speedway is the longest running third party event at the stadium and to confirm it’s coming back, and we finally get to celebrate 20 years together is a wonderful moment after two years of cancellations due to Covid. Speedway brings together motorsport fans from across the world to Cardiff; it’s always a thrilling event but this year promises to be spectacular.”

Organisers have plenty of surprises lined up to toast two decades of World-Championship motorsport in Cardiff – with a fanzone taking over the city on the Saturday, before racing gets started at 5pm.

And the action continues on Sunday, August 14 at 1pm, when the Principality Stadium hosts the FIM SGP2 of Great Britain – the second round of the revamped FIM Speedway Under-21 World Championship. Entry to this meeting included in the FIM British Speedway GP ticket price.

Paul Bellamy, chairman of Sidetrack Ltd, which runs the FIM British Speedway GP on behalf of Discovery Sports Events said, “Going back to Cardiff in August is really uplifting for everybody. Having been starved of Speedway GP for three years, we are expecting that everyone will want to come. We are expecting a bumper crowd.”

“I appreciate everyone’s patience in waiting for tickets to go on sale. Tickets are now on sale and it’s great to say, ‘we’re back!’

“For me, Cardiff is Speedway GP’s spiritual home, and we are looking at marking our 20th anniversary in a special way with a number of different things. We hope to see old friends and former winners back there, and this is also an opportunity for everyone to come back and celebrate the past two decades together with us.

“Another big thing we have for this year is the SGP2 event on the Sunday. Tickets for the FIM British Speedway GP will be valid for Sunday’s event at no extra charge. It is the first time we have staged two events in Cardiff. It’s a great way to celebrate our 20th anniversary.”

Tickets are on sale from 10am on Thursday 27th January from fimspeedwaygpofcardiff.seetickets.com and with prices starting from just £20, and family and concessions tickets available, it’s the perfect event to share in the moment with family and friends.
