The countdown is on until the home of Welsh rugby will be renamed Principality Stadium.

The national stadium will be officially named Principality Stadium from January 22, 2016, following a 10-year commercial partnership between the WRU and Principality Building Society which aims to develop and grow all aspects of the rugby in Wales.

The new stadium branding was revealed to the public last month. The logo is inspired by venue’s iconic architecture of four spires, curved frontage and fully-retractable roof as well as featuring the Welsh translation ‘Stadiwm’ for ‘Stadium’.

Practical work is already underway at the venue to change all logo and brand references for the venue which has been named Millennium Stadium since it first opened in 1999.

Welsh regional rugby supporters were the first to get a glimpse of the new logo when their tickets for Judgement Day IV – the regional double header on Saturday 30 April – arrived in the post before Christmas.

The logo will be used at various locations around Wales’ national ground as well as all WRU and Principality Building Society platforms from 22 January.

The first major event at Principality Stadium is Wales’ RBS 6 Nations clash with Scotland on Saturday 13 February.
