British Speedway Grand Prix world champion Greg Hancock praised the Millennium Stadium following his sensational victory in front of a bumper crowd at the iconic venue this weekend.

A passionate crowd of 43,640 fans arrived in Cardiff for the eleventh FIM Doodson British Speedway Grand Prix at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday and the ecstatic world champ was full of praise for Wales’ multi-sports venue.

“Cardiff is amazing. I almost had a tear in my eye because I felt so darn good and the people here are amazing,” said the American ace.

“The build-up to it from Friday was great and I had people sending Twitter messages to me. I’m so grateful. This place is top of the list of places I’ve raced in my speedway career.

“It’s the biggest and best stadium on the speedway Grand Prix circuit and one of the best sporting venues in the world.”

He added: “I could retire right here, right now. It’s a fantastic feeling having won here because, boy, what a crowd we had!

“As soon as they saw my face on the screen they went crazy. I have such a history in Cardiff when I come here it’s an incredible experience.”
