"We have had a meeting with Cardiff Council officials in the wake of our decision to pull out post-party event on Saturday and both sides of aired their views on the matter," said Sergeant.

"We feel we have clearly stated out concerns and grievances and it was good to be able to put them to the council first-hand. However, we work hand-in-hand with the council’s events team on so many projects that we now consider this particular episode to be closed.

"We will be working very closely together on the Wales Rally GB 2005 next week and then we will be joining forces to maximise the benefit to both the city and the stadium for the Welsh Rugby Union’s exciting Autumn Series, when New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa and Australia visit Cardiff.

"We have offered the services of the Abba tribute band Bjorn Again to the council for use in the main Mardi Gras event at Cooper’s Field on Saturday and hope they can be used to good effect. Both sides have agreed to meet again between the Rally and the Autumn Series to discuss on-going projects."
