Principality Stadium is delighted to be hosting the FA Community Shield ahead of the 2026/27 football season, marking the return of English football’s traditional curtain raiser to the Welsh capital for the first time in 20 years.

The announcement follows confirmation from The FA that Wembley Stadium connected by EE is unavailable due to pre-planned concerts. With the Premier League season set to begin over the weekend of Saturday 22 August, the Community Shield will be played at Principality Stadium on Sunday 16 August.

Principality Stadium has a rich history of hosting the fixture, having staged the Community Shield on six occasions between 2001 and 2006. Its five-star UEFA rating, retractable roof and capacity of over 74,000 make it one of the largest and most versatile venues in the United Kingdom, offering a neutral setting for the competing clubs and an outstanding matchday experience for supporters.
